Success Story
Fully automatic charging system for feeding of loss-in-weight feeders
The challenge:
Production expansion in Germany – without previous experience in plant construction
The customer no longer wanted to produce new plastic roofing membranes (FPO & PVC) exclusively in Italy, but also to manufacture them directly in Germany. The challenge: a completely new plant concept on a greenfield site – and this with a lack of experience in process engineering plant construction.
Kitzmann was involved in the design from the very beginning and closely supported the customer – from the initial idea to the operational system.
The solution:
Complete charging system – individually planned, automatically implemented
Kitzmann supplied a fully automatic charging system for feeding loss-in-weight feeders with solids and liquid components for extrusion. The complete system was tailored precisely to the customer’s requirements – from the basic engineering phase to customization and on-site production support.
Despite the ambitious time frame (planning to production in just 14 months), the project was realized on time.
The result:
New production capacity, new opportunities
With the new location and the realized plant, the customer was not only able to expand its production capacities in Germany, but also extend its product portfolio at the same time. The know-how in material handling for plastic roofing membranes was significantly strengthened internally – also thanks to the close cooperation with Kitzmann.
Outlook:
This greenfield plant was an important step towards local production and flexibility. For Kitzmann, it was a project with exemplary character – in terms of partnership-based development, process integration and customer-specific design.
We had no experience in plant construction – Kitzmann picked us up right from the start and structured and implemented the project together with us.
